Father’s Day presents are strangely difficult.

Not because dads are difficult to buy for. Quite the opposite. Most dads are remarkably easy to please.

The problem is that they’re generally terrible at telling you what they actually want.

Ask Dad what he wants for Father’s Day and there’s a fair chance you’ll get something along the lines of, “Nothing. Don’t waste your money on me.”

Which is completely useless advice.

Because you’re obviously going to get him something.

So begins the annual search for a present that sits somewhere between a pair of socks and something wildly expensive that he neither asked for nor particularly needs.

There is another option.

Think about the presents you remember receiving.

It’s rarely the novelty thing that seemed hilarious for approximately seven minutes after you opened it.

Some of our favourite pieces are made using Australian kangaroo leather.

There is something particularly appropriate about giving Dad an Australian-made piece made from an unmistakably Australian material.

But we don't use kangaroo leather simply because it gives us a good story.

We use it because it makes excellent leather goods.

It allows us to make pieces that can be remarkably slim and light while still feeling like proper leather goods rather than flimsy fashion accessories.

There isn't one perfect Father’s Day present.

There can't be.

Dads are different.
